Life Coaching FAQ's

What is a life coach?

A life coach is a trusted mentor who can help you identify and uncover what keeps you from reaching your fullest potential. Life coaches customize their approach to provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment that will encourage you to create the life you want for yourself. Life coaches often help you strategize and gain the tools you need to achieve your goals. Life coaches will methodically guide you to help you identify and reframe your thoughts and attitudes. We also help you break negative habits, acquire new methods of identification, and take action to live up to your full potential.

Who can benefit from a life coach?

The short answer is, everyone! Most people can benefit from life coaching services. I have helped people from all walks of life reach their personal and/or professional goals. If your business has hired me to provide you life coaching services, you may find a greater sense of happiness in your personal and professional life as you begin living a purposeful life. Life coaching is not a "magic pill" that will cure all your problems. Those who experience the best results include individuals who are ready and willing to learn and grow while taking action and doing the work.

How can you help me live a purposeful life?

In my experience, I have found that my clients are usually capable of identifying their own solutions. They often get "stuck" and don't know how to change the path they are on. I take a holistic approach to helping my clients navigate what steps they need to take to discover how to live a more purposeful life. Through discussion and assignment completion, clients find they are able to take action and change the course of their life. Those who commit typically report increased job satisfaction, better focus, improved relationships, resolution of ongoing negative behaviors, improvement in overall health, and growth spiritually.

Is coaching therapy?

While some clients find life coaching therapeutic, coaching is not therapy. The services I provide focus on helping you identify your goals and how to achieve them. There is little emphasis placed on the past. The sole focus is on creating what you want now and in the future. These services do not address psychological issues that may arise. This is why I have access to a network of individuals and organizations to assist you should these types of issues keep you from moving forward.

How do you conduct coaching sessions and what can I expect?

I offer life coaching sessions, in-person, on the phone, and through video conferencing to individuals, couples, and executives. In the initial assessment, we will clearly define your short and long-term goals. We will then use your goals to create an action plan that will help you reach your target, engage your passion, and find your purpose.  My clients also have access to an online system where they can:

  • View and accept their coaching agreement
  • View and schedule upcoming meetings
  • Create projects to track their daily tasks or other projects they are working on
  • View and complete assigned homework from sessions
  • View coaching session notes
  • Create private notes for their eyes only (many clients use this to journal)
  • Create shared notes between them and their coach
  • Access Coaches Notes with suggested reading, tips, and more!

How long do I need to work with a life-coach?

Each person is unique. The length of time a life coach is needed varies. Most new clients begin with a 3 to 6-month commitment (12-24 sessions) and a reevaluation is done near the end of that time period.

Booking and Cancellation FAQ's

What is your cancellation policy?

To get the most out of your agreement, it is important that you consistently attend coaching sessions. I also require us to operate with mutual respect for one another's time. For this reason, I require a 24-hour notice to cancel your session and avoid losing your prepaid session or deposit. I also commit to notifying you 24 hours in advance if I need to cancel a session.  All no call/no show appointments will be billed at full rate. Special consideration will be given in emergency situations that require you to cancel without notice.

Will my prepaid sessions be forfeited if I don't complete them within the time-frame agreed upon?

Life coaching can be intense. Weekly sessions may seem overwhelming at times. You often feel this way right before you have a breakthrough. This is why clients are expected to use their sessions within the agreed upon time frame. This will only benefit you in the long run. In special cases, the agreement may be altered, but I usually require you honor the commitment you made at the time of purchase.

Is life coaching covered by my insurance provider?

Despite my education and experience, life coaching is not covered by insurance companies. This is why we offer a variety of coaching packages with flexible payment options to help you overcome financial barriers that may exist. Most clients like to choose the prepaid option to get the lowest rate possible.

Privacy FAQ's

Are the things we talk about kept confidential?

Trust is one of the most important components in the coaching relationship. One way I build trust is by keeping our sessions confidential. Unfortunately, conversations with me are not privileged for legal purposes. The privilege of confidentiality that exists for the clergy, therapists, and attorneys is not granted to coaching professionals. That said, I take confidentiality seriously and will not release information to a third party unless required by law.

If I am receiving sessions paid by my employer, will you tell them what we talk about?

When conducting life coaching paid by your employer, it is important that you understand that my agreement is with your employer. It is often impossible to separate your personal and professional life as we navigate through barriers that are keeping you from being successful at work. While every effort is made to communicate your progress without divulging too many details, there are times where specifics may need to be relayed to the employer to help them understand where you are in the process.
