Getting to Know Melissa

I have always described myself as a "free-spirit". Perhaps this was because I had not identified my true life's purpose. I could never quite commit to a specific career. I only knew that my passion was helping others, which always fueled my passion. I later discovered that my education and experience had given me the tools to help others identify their purpose while breaking through the barriers that keep them from living their dream.

I graduated from Ashford University with my Bachelor of Arts in Complementary and Alternative Health with a minor in Healthcare Administration. My studies gave me exposure to a wide array of major non-allopathic health systems such as Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, naturopathic medicine, biofeedback, herbal medicines, chiropractic, acupuncture, acupressure, reiki, reflexology, energy systems, and transpersonal health such as meditation, hypnosis, and prayer. Earning my degree reinforced my passion for natural therapies by providing foundational, philosophical, and evidence-based knowledge of holistic health.  Understanding the interdependence between the human mind, body, spirit, and the natural environment not only allowed me to pursue living a life of purpose, it reinforced my ability and desire to help others do the same.

As a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, I am proud to help couples of all types strengthen their relationship. Using the Prepare/Enrich assessment, customized insights, and skill building exercises, I love helping couples identify their strengths, understand the underlying dynamics that influence their communication, and helping them develop skills to improve their growth areas. As an ordained minister, I can also officiate weddings and vow renewal ceremonies for my clients.

My professional experience includes over 10 years of Human Resource consulting, ownership and operation of a successful small-business, managing an acupuncture clinic, supporting at-risk youth in the mental health field, and wellness coaching for the chronically ill. While I have experienced much professional success, I strongly believe that the most important roles I've held include being a mother, wife, and friend. With a vast array of experience in many fields, I can help anyone who is ready to commit to fully living their life and finding their purpose.
